Welcome to the Theatre Department at

Central Connecticut State University


CCSU's Department of Theatre is dedicated to forging the highest quality graduates in all aspects of theatre.  We provide an environment to students that nurtures their individual artistic personalities while simultaneously maintaining a commitment to the standards of excellence set forth by our institution.  Graduates from CCSU's theatre department have gone to successful careers in acting, directing, costuming, scenic design, education and virtually every facet of theatre.

Our students have a multitude of wonderful opportunities, including:

  • Fine Arts Concentration in Acting, Directing, Design and Technical Theatre

  • Internships at many regional theatres and New York studio

  • Off-Broadway showcase in New York in front of Casting Agents and Directors

  • Annual participation in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

   


Special Announcement

Congratulations to the cast and crew of 9 Parts of Desire by Heather Raffo. Not only was their performance invited to perform at the Region 1 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, but they were also one of the few national finalists held to compete at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.

Further congratulations go to Irene Ryan Acting Award Finalists Danielle See and Peter Waluk for their talents in acting, along with the cast of Suicide Kings and One Eyed Jacks for the Outstanding Creative Ensemble Award.

Finally, Herbert Davis was chosen as the only student from New England to perform a stage reading of Another Vermeer by Bruce J. Robinson, alongside Broadway actor Austin Pendleton.
