CCSU Theatre ![]() "I regard theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being." -Oscar Wilde
At the CCSU
Theatre Department we have a dual-identity. We are a
local theatre,
bringing performance art to CCSU and the wider New Britain community.
We produce anywhere between ten and thirty shows a year, and have an
going relationships with other local theatres, like the Hole in the Wall
and the Hartford Stage. But, we are also an educational department
within
a larger university. We teach regular classes and furnish our
nearly one hundred students with B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in everything
from Acting, to Design, to Dance. We don't find these dual-identities to be at all contradictory. They are, in fact, intrinsic to each other. We believe that the best theatre education comes not from dry theory, but from active real world experience, and the best performances come from bright, active imaginations: our students. At CCSU Theatre, we believe in our students, we believe in our plays, and we believe we could never have one without the other.
