World-renowned filmmaker Elliot Caplan
conducted a hands-on dance and camera workshop at CCSU. Famed
choreographer Merce Cunningham and Caplan, having collaborated for
years in filmmaking, most recently won international acclaim this year
for their dance video titled "Beach Birds for Camera."
The film won the 1993 IMZ Dance Screen award for the transformation of
an existing dance into an original cinematographic work. The film
was selected from more than 170 entries from 96 nations. It
combined black and white with color film and was shot in December 1991.
